Incentive Scheme Proving a Hit with Organisations
Calderdale groups and organisations have been signing up for the Quality 4 Health and Wellbeing (Q4H) accreditation in their droves recently, and as a result, will benefit from a £500 windfall.
The accreditation is designed to provide evidence to commissioners and funders that organisations have achieved exceptional standards of health and wellbeing service delivery. This is closely aligned with Active Calderdale principles, with physical activity being one of the key elements.
“This is a wonderful offering from the Active Calderdale programme and is proving to be an excellent catalyst for groups and organisations to take that leap of faith and sign up for the accreditation. The £500 will really help our new inductees progress and the team and I are looking forward to supporting them.”

Encouraging Staff, Volunteers and Service Users
Specifically, organisations must evidence the promotion and encouragement of staff, volunteers, and service users to undertake physical activity, in line with the Chief Medical Officers' recommendations. Depending on the status of each
organisation, this may result in the capture of existing activity, or it may result in a greater or new focus in the area.

A total of 6 organisations have recently signed up to commence their journey to accreditation, with more in the pipeline.
Groups who have signed on the dotted line include Edshift, Mums on a Mission, Project Colt, Light Up BAHC, Age UK Calderdale, and Calder Valley Strollers.
"I am delighted at the take-up rate to date and the financial incentive will help organisations on their route to accreditation, I am sure. The Quality 4 Health and Wellbeing accreditation has embedded physical activity into its assessment to ensure VCSE organisations recognise and value physical activity within policy and practice for both staff and members.
We do have a few spaces remaining, therefore move quickly if you are interested.”

Demonstrating Commitment
When asked what the accreditation will mean to Calder Valley Strollers, Mark Wisbey commented:
"For Calder Valley Strollers, signing up for the Quality 4 Health is a win-win. We were looking at a way we could demonstrate our commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of the over 50s in the Calder Valley. We are already delivering a great walking football project in Todmorden on a Sunday, 2-3 pm at Todmorden Sports Centre and have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline.
Having a quality kitemark such as Q4H demonstrates our commitment, not only to robust governance but also to being a trusted organisation that health and wellbeing commissioners can feel confident working alongside. The £500 that we have received as part of the Q4H programme will go towards the next stage of our walking sports development programme, allowing us to test the potential and take-up of other walking sports.”
