Active Parks Update

Updated: Feb 13

Active Parks is driving system change by adopting a collaborative, community-led approach to improving parks and green spaces. It puts communities at the heart of planning and decision-making for park improvements and investments.

Key changes in practice:

  • Communities co-design and set priorities for park improvements.

  • Communities help decide where investments are made to create spaces for physical activity.

  • Stakeholders, including park services, neighbourhood groups, and voluntary organisations, collaborate and share resources to work with communities in creating better spaces for active living.

  • Safer Parks for women & girls research has been integrated into the planning and delivery of Park improvements.
