Active health and social care services
Our health and social services play a vital role in our lives, from childhood to retirement.
There is a direct link between moving more and our physical, mental and emotional health, which is why supporting and normalising everyday movement and activity can be such a powerful part of our approach to staying healthy. That’s why, when trusted professionals such as nurses, social workers, or therapists support and encourage us to make physical activity a part of our daily routines, it can make a big difference to our motivation and commitment to make it happen.
That’s why we want our health and social care services and professionals to be at the heart of Active Calderdale - working together as part of our community to help everybody to move more.
Working with us, we can help you discover:
-
what opportunities exist to build physical activity into practice,
-
how encouragement to move more can benefit patients,
-
what’s possible within your capacity and resources,
-
what’s the best way to get started.
Working together, we can help you:
-
make movement a part of your working day,
-
get access to useful, reliable information about the benefits of being active,
-
embed moving more into policy and practice,
-
promote opportunities to move more among staff, volunteers and patients.
"I can't thank you enough for such an enjoyable afternoon at the Maurice Jagger Centre. It was wonderful to see everyone, regardless of their mobility, getting involved in the games. The laughter, conversation, and even the competitive spirit really lifted the room.”
Catherine Scoggins - Secretary of the Stroke Support Group
